Spook was the almost spherical rat! An adorable, cuddly, friendly girl who loved eating, whether it was her food or the furniture.She had a peculiar habit of sleeping on her back with her little legs stuck up in the air and would give anyone a kiss provided they offered her a yoghurt drop first. Although tending to overweight, Spook had very good health for most of her long life. She began to develop some lumps when she was around two years old, and she had a couple of tumour surgeries, proving herself to be an adept and determined chewer of stitches.

In January 2004, Spook started to show signs similar to those seen with a pituitary tumour and we feared we would soon lose her. But she was a great fighter, and with daily doses of steroid and a little help with food, she carried on enjoying life for a further three months.
