Hi everyone. I'm Joy, the present host of the ratsnest website. I was born in October 2006 and lived for eight months in the SSPCA rescue centre in Dundee. I escaped in the shelter when I was just 12 weeks old and I lived like a semi-wild rat for five months before I was captured again and came to live here. My mum Verity had been at the same rescue centre and she was already living here so I was able to live with her again, but sadly my mum died from a brain tumour in Auguest 1997 so we weren't really reunited for very long. But I live with two other rescue girls named Patience and Harley so I have plenty of company. I'm a little shy about getting my photograph taken, but otherwise I have a lot of fun bossing the human slaves around.

There are two other rats who live here with our humans. They are male so we aren't allowed to mix with them (humans spoil all the fun sometimes!) They are named Max and Paddy, and they came all the way from Devon where a kind couple had rescued them.

These pages have a loads of pictures of all of us and of the rats that have owned our humans in the past. There are some good rattie links as well.

You can e-mail us if you want to.

And finally, though it is really beneath me, as a rat, to mention other creatures, a little mouse called Charlie used to live here too. He was rescued from a drain when he was just a baby and he lived a very long life. You can see Charlie's pictures here

We also have a guinea pig called Garretty, who came here when his former owners didn't want him any more. Guinea pigs are funny, aren't they? I mean, where are their tails? And they make a lot more noise than we rats do. But I suppose he's ok, really. The human has assured me that Garretty will be getting his own page soon.
