Bugsy and Sharky were the first ratsnest rats. They were a birthday present for their human, who was delighted to have them. She was even more delighted, if a little nervous, when, a week later, Bugsy gave birth. Bugsy was a great mother, even though she was only a baby herself.

In middle age, Bugsy became a fat little matron, but she suddenly started to become clumsy and unable to hold her food properly. She had a pituitary tumour. Medication helped for a little while, but Bugsy died after a violent seizure at 21 months old.
